|A WORKER'S COOPERATIVE|
After a year of research and soul-searching, Leo Parma, founder of Asiapro Cooperative arrived at a workable solution to end traditional contracting problems. The cooperative principles and structure provided the core ingredients which enabled him to develop a win-win formula to address the casual/contractual/non-regular worker's plight of intermittent/marginal income and poor quality of life, as well as the industries' issues on recurring recruitment/training costs and low productivity resulting from traditional service contracting engagements. In November 1999, with 60 self-employed workers and professionals, Asiapro Multi-Purpose Cooperative was organized and registered with CDA.Asiapro operates nationwide and ensures that members in the local communities where the co-op does business are the main beneficiaries. The member's service asignments to over 70 clients cover as far north as Laoag to General Santos down south.Asiapro continues to attract and develop professional leaders and stewards, and to invest in technologies and systems tomeet its expanding business and to prepare for greater challenges as it build its future.
"We make work our business and make business work for us and our future..." LEO G. PARMA,Founder, Asiapro Cooperative
