Qualifications:
Capability to pay close attention to health and safety, the environment and the community during the construction and hand over phase of the project.
At least 10 years experience in high, medium and low voltage electrical systems in power supply and on construction sites.
Substantial knowledge in the detailing of tasks breakdown in construction works and on-site installation plus substantial knowledge in various types of planning.
Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
Third cycle degree/diploma or specialised studies in construction management and supervision is
desirable
.
10 years experience in the design of electrical systems, in particular in the design of systems for the production of energy.
In depth knowledge in the allocation and retrieval of materials and equipment.
Knowledge of all phases of multidiscipline construction: on-site activities in all technical disciplines, all construction technologies and management functions applicable to the workplace and supervision.
Experience in the installation of refurbished sites.
Strong leadership qualities, capability to lead a team and to adapt to a teamwork environment.
Practical knowledge of MS Office programs.
Competence in report writing and planning, good organisational sense.
Very good capability to communicate, negotiate and interact with others.
Capability to communicate directly with clients on important issues.
Resulting from professional experience, excellent understanding of the areas of knowledge described above.
Task Description:
Responsible for all aspects of health, safety and the environment in the area for which he is responsible. The capability to encourage a health, safety and zero accident culture, to firmly establish this culture and to make it obligatory for the entire area team. Establish a proactive climate with the subcontractors to promote a safe, risk-free work environment.
Provide assistance to the manager and the safety coordinators to ensure workplace safety on site and to take part in safety meetings with the subcontractors.
In compliance with site procedures and directives from the construction manager or area supervisor, general responsibility for the management of all construction personnel and activities within the site area under his responsibility.
Determine the workforce requirements, coordinate the plans established for developing the area, the time constraints and the work to be carried out.
Direct and manage the team for the area for which he is responsible: participate and provide clear leadership to ensure that the area construction team carries out its work in accordance with the procedures, standards and requirements applicable to the project.
Participate in the general supervision, co-ordination and management of construction subcontractor activities in the area in question, with not only the supervisors/coordinators from other disciplines but also with the safety coordinator.
Required to ensure that all construction activity in the area in question is correctly planned, coordinated and implemented in priority order. Must know how to make optimum use of the available resources.
Ensure that all works have been undertaken in total safety, carried out in accordance with the prescribed quality standards and in compliance with the specifications and design, meet the program timelines and remain within budget.
Take responsibility for the organisation of coordination meetings at the place of work, take part in weekly progress meetings with the subcontractors and guide, assist and advise the subcontractors on all questions relating to construction.
Directly or indirectly, through the intermediary of supervisors/coordinators, verify any works carried out, special activities, resources, work quality, materials and equipment.
Review any trends in costs and timing, including variations due to additional work. Make recommendations to the area supervisor/site manager/construction manager Work in close collaboration with the on-site engineering personnel and the person responsible for site planning/programming to ensure that the works comply with the prescribed quality standards and that these standards are adhered to. Monitor progress and performance against the contract timetable.
Work in close collaboration with the project control personnel to prepare reports and inform of any trends. Take responsibility for commenting in a timely manner on the monthly and weekly reports, providing complete and practical information.
Take responsibility for directing and orienting the area team in terms of the demands for completion and handover, production/completion of work schedules and verification plans.
Accept the possibility of having to ensure coordination with the client’s resident representatives at the place of work on the allocated site.
